The Gift of Spring

I love Spring!. It’s a time of year where we are often settled into our usual rhythm and routines. Some of us have just had an extra bit of down time if we took a Spring Break. Sounds lovely…except these days, we might need more than a bit of downtime to cope. In these very turbulent times filled with war, climate change, and economic uncertainty, Spring offers something especially important.
Spring brings hope! There is hope for warmer, sunnier weather of course; however, there are many other reasons for hope in the Springtime though. I can think of several - the hope for: a fresh new term at school, the harvest my garden might produce, enjoyable family celebrations; healthier eating choices; and the end of allergy time if you live where I do!
Hope can be very motivating and empowering through even very difficult times. It is what often gets us through. If you want to get technical, Harvard Medical School says that hope is “associated with improved coping, well-being, and engagement in healthy behaviours.” It is also an “essential factor for developing both maturity and resilience.”
When you look at it this way, who wouldn’t want hope? It most definitely ties in with self-care!
This month, Creating Community will be wrapping up our work on nurturing the nervous system. It’s a great time to pop in for a quick summary of what we have been studying the last few months. It’s also a great time to join because we are deciding what element of self-care we want to focus on next. Come see what we have been doing and also have a say about what you want to learn next! Click on the link below to join our next Creating Community Meetup April 29 at 5:30pm PST.
Wishing you all a very hope filled Spring!
